Features: Suzhou Creek is one of Lu Yuanmin's representative works from the 1990s, with most of the photographs published between 1991 and 1993. Lu Yuanmin's photographs deliberately retell the story of Suzhou Creek. In his simple imagery, Suzhou Creek becomes the center where everything is placed, regaining its solemnity, eloquence, and awe. Ordinary photographs are "taken," while his photographs are "flowed," and this is a very important distinction. People do not oppose or flee from their world; fundamentally, they endure, share, and embody the fate of the world. Characters move and face life and death with their entire world. The photographer's emotions, compassion, grandeur, solemnity, and understanding of time and fate all originate from this. This is the long-forgotten fundamental spirit of Chinese photography, and these photographs remind us of the grandeur of the setting sun over the long river. This book was curated and compiled by the renowned book planner Jiang Wei. Lu Yuanmin is a famous photographer in Shanghai, and the book includes over 180 photographs of the customs, culture, and daily life along both banks of Suzhou Creek taken by Lu Yuanmin in the 1990s. It serves as a precious historical witness to the transformation of Shanghai's cityscape.
