Features: The Terrifying "Super Girl Voice" — It's Really Not Easy to Be a Good Girl!
"Quick, quick! No time for breakfast!" After hearing this muffled, yet extremely high-pitched scream, I pried open one eye from under the covers. Through the gap, I saw my mom holding a toothbrush in her right hand, vigorously scrubbing it in and out of her mouth, while her left hand was grabbing my coat. It wasn’t like she was poking my head with the toothbrush—nothing scary about that. But seriously, what was terrifying to me wasn’t the toothbrush, but the pair of wide-eyed, furious eyes on the white foam, along with the deeply wrinkled brows above them, and the "" (chuan) character formed between the brows. Sigh, every morning, my mom’s furious calls to wake me up became a daily performance.
Watching my mom’s quick, tiny steps as she hurried toward the bathroom, I slowly pulled the covers off, regretting to myself, "What a stylish face—it’s all ruined by that '' character. Too bad."
"Aha—" With a long yawn, I squinted and grabbed the coat my mom had thrown at me. As I was dizzyingly pulling it over my head, the terrifying "Super Girl Voice" echoed again: "Go brush your teeth and wash your face! You’ll really miss breakfast!"
Suddenly, I felt my head pulled out from the collar of the sweater, and just like a poor little rabbit, I was lifted by the collar.
"Shoes, my slippers!" When my toes touched the cold floor, I fully woke up and yelled back.
"Shoes, shoes! What were you doing all morning? It’s so tight—how can you find your shoes with your eyes closed? And probing around on the floor with your feet? Do you think you have special powers?"
Sigh, encountering such a "wailing" death-wish mom was really annoying. For four years of school, except for holidays, I’ve gone through this every morning. For someone not too strong-minded, it’s a harsh challenge. At first, when my mom nagged me, I covered my ears, but it wasted a lot of precious time. And when she grabbed and tugged me, I felt extremely uncomfortable, so I violently ripped free from her "magic claws" and angrily dressed myself. But then, I’d either wear the clothes backward or put the buttons in the wrong places. After a few struggles, my mom still had the upper hand.
