Features: This book is based on the Qing Dynasty scholar Wang Xianqian's Collected Annotations on Xunzi. During the process of annotation and translation, it primarily references the collected annotations and annotations on Xunzi by Yu Yue, Liu Shipei, Luo Genze, Liang Qixiong, and Japanese scholar Kikoo Aiko. For differing interpretations and explanations of words and phrases in various versions, the author has chosen one based on their own consensus and does not list them individually. The complete work of Xunzi consists of thirty chapters, from which selected sections of twenty-two chapters, including parts of Admonishing Learning, Cultivating Self, Chengxiang, and Fufan, are provided with brief annotations and colloquial translations. Annotations focus on difficult words and key terms, offering concise definitions, and include Pinyin romanization for challenging characters for the convenience of readers. Additionally, the book appends "Quotations from Xunzi", "A Brief Overview of Xunzi," "Major Editions of Xunzi," and "Important Research Works on Xunzi." The "Quotations from Xunzi" are arranged sequentially with corresponding page numbers in the main text, marked with italics in the body of the book.
