To commemorate the 95th anniversary of Father’s birth and the 90th anniversary of Mother’s birth, the Complete Works of Fu Lei, Complete Translations of Fu Lei, and Complete Writings of Fu Lei are about to be published. During the process of organizing the manuscripts, The Letters from Fu Lei were recompiled and published simultaneously by Liaoning Education Press. The original The Letters from Fu Lei were arranged by date, but many letters were long and written over several days. Now, the letters are arranged by mailing date.
As a result, 200 selected letters were compiled: 161 from Father and 39 from Mother. Among them, 138 are in Chinese and 38 are in English and French, translated by Professor Jin Shenghua of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Compared to the original The Letters from Fu Lei published by The Joint Publishing Company, in addition to corrections and corrections of typographical errors, 34 new letters were added: 11 from Father and 23 from Mother. Sixty-five supplementary letters were included: 56 from Father and 9 from Mother. The foreword features six surviving letters from the older brother, and the afterword is an essay by Mr. Lou Shiyi. Annotations in the text were added by the compilers; notes in square brackets are translations or annotations by Professor Jin Shenghua or the compilers.
