How is ADHD usually diagnosed in general cases?

Patient's question:

The child is already eight years old and is still very active and restless. I feel quite anxious about it. Could you please ask the doctor how they generally diagnose ADHD?

Doctor's answer:

ADHD is a common behavioral disorder in childhood. This condition has two major symptoms: attention deficits and hyperactivity, which can be accompanied by behavioral guilt and learning difficulties. It typically emerges before the age of 6, with symptoms becoming most pronounced during school age and gradually improving as the child grows older.
A diagnosis of ADHD in children requires exhibiting four of the following behaviors:
1. Difficulty staying still in situations where sitting quietly is expected, often fidgeting.
2. Easily agitated and prone to guilt.
3. Frequently disrupting the movement of other children.
4. Often starting tasks but failing to complete them.
5. Difficulty maintaining focus and frequently shifting attention.
6. A strong need for immediate gratification, or emotional reactions if it is not met.
