Zhonghua Book Company has previously published numerous comprehensive and selective collections of ancient literary works. Our long-standing aspiration has been to provide society with a systematic poetry and prose anthology that combines academic rigor with readability, appealing to both scholars and the general public. The editors' approach is as follows:
1. The primary criterion for selecting works is their educational value, while also considering their ideological and artistic merit.
2. Efforts are made to use authoritative versions of the texts, particularly authoritative annotated editions, without providing collation notes. Generally, variant readings are not explained, but significant ones are clarified in the annotations.
3. Each book includes an "Introduction" before the main text, offering a comprehensive and precise evaluation of the selected authors, works, and related content.
4. Works and their annotations are arranged chronologically. Works that cannot be dated are grouped together at the end of the chronological sections.
5. Below each poem or prose piece, there are "Author's Notes" and "Annotations." The author's notes provide context-specific introductions to the writing background, themes, techniques, artistic features, and relevant names, places, and reigns mentioned in the work.
