Features: This book is the final report of the joint research project "A Comparative Study on Community Governance Models in Shanghai and the Greater Vancouver Region" by the Shanghai Institute of Public Administration and Douglas College in Canada. Under the backdrop of economic globalization and with the goal of building a harmonious society, this collaborative international academic research, using China's Shanghai and Canada's Greater Vancouver as case studies, conducts an in-depth and empirical study on community construction and community services. The book is rich in data, rigorous in reasoning, and well-supported by evidence, making it a sociological work with original significance. Partial results of this project were selected for the International Academic Conference on "Innovation in Social Governance" hosted by the Chinese National School of Administration in mid-September 2005, the International Forum on "Development of Civil Organizations and Building a Harmonious Society" organized by the China (Hainan) Research Institute for Reform and Development, and the International Academic Conference on "Promoting a Harmonious Society and Community Construction" held by the Shanghai Institute of Public Administration. The project received guidance and support from academic peers both at home and abroad.
