Features: The early 20th century was the period when modern Chinese culture was formed in people's perception. To forge modern Chinese culture, two bridges needed to be constructed: one to connect ancient Chinese civilization with modern civilization, and another to connect Western civilization with Chinese civilization. The scholar Fu Siye took up the historical mission and devoted his entire life to building these two cultural bridges. Of course, many cultural pioneers participated in the construction of these bridges, and among them were disagreements and even fierce debates over doctrines and schools of thought. However, history tells us that it was precisely this kind of debate that made the structure of modern Chinese culture more resilient to the test of time. The international academic symposium "Fu Siye and Chinese Culture" was held from 24 to 27, 2004, in Liaocheng, Shandong, the hometown of the late scholar. This symposium was initiated by his disciples in Beijing as early as the 1991 National "Symposium on Fu Siye's Scholarship," which was held in Beijing.
