Features: Ding Xiaobing was born in September 1965 and enlisted in the army in October 1983. In a major military operation in 1984, he heroically sustained injuries and lost his right arm. In June 1985, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League awarded him 101 gold medals of the "Outstanding Youth on the Border" for his contributions. Over the past 20 years, Ding Xiaobing has been honored with the title of "National Self-Strengthening Model" by the Ministry of Personnel and the China Disabled Persons' Federation, as well as the title of "Model of Loving the People and Loving the State" by the General Command of the People's Armed Police and the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Government. The General Command of the People's Armed Police also recognized him as an individual who actively implemented the important thought of "Three Represents," an outstanding Communist Party member, and a model for outstanding cadres. In May 2005, he was honorably elected as one of the "Top 10 Loyal Guards of the Chinese People's Armed Police" for the eighth session. According to incomplete statistics, Ding Xiaobing has received 288 medals and certificates. In the run-up to the 2006 Spring Festival, General Secretary Hu Jintao visited the troops and personally clicked on a webpage, carefully reading a special report on Ding Xiaobing that was featured on the website, calling on all officers and soldiers of the army and the People's Armed Police to learn from Comrade Ding Xiaobing.
