Features: Currently, China has entered a new stage of development in building a well-off society in an all-round way and accelerating the modernization of socialism. The economic structure of China is in a critical period of strategic adjustment. Accelerating the development of the service industry and improving its role in the national economy; promoting the opening-up of the service industry and raising the overall level of service trade are inevitable requirements for achieving sustained, rapid, and healthy economic development. Based on this background, this book focuses on the research themes of producer services and the development and opening-up of China's service industry. Producer services, in terms of their theoretical connotation, refer to market-oriented non-consumption services, that is, services that serve as intermediate inputs in the production of other goods or services. If services can be distinguished from general commodities as capital and consumer goods, then producer services undoubtedly correspond to services as capital goods. In terms of extension, producer services refer to specific industries and trades. In China, producer services are also known as "services for production" or "productive services." The producer service industry is a very important "sub-industry" cluster within the service industry, with significant economic functions.
