Language Literature Controversies (Second Issue)

Author: Li Ruohui
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-12-01
Features: The small book presented to the readers is the footprint of the author's ten years of day and night hard work. This series of "Research Series on Chinese Language and Characters of Southwest Normal University" will be published successively. I am fortunate to witness the publication of these achievements. As one of the earliest Chinese language teachers and a veteran in the research team of Chinese language studies at this university, I am overjoyed beyond words. Some of these authors are lifelong friends of mine with whom I often discuss academic issues, while others are my students. They either engage in vocabulary research, syntax research, Sichuan dialect studies, or research the similarities and differences between oracle bone and bronze inscriptions and Naxi Dongba scripts. Everyone explores Chinese language and characters from different perspectives. The works included in this series have either received academic awards from Wang Li, or have been highly evaluated by experts, or are the results of authors' decade-long research on a single topic. These explorations have, to some extent, contributed to the advancement of Chinese language and character studies. From a macro perspective, with the growing strength of China and its rising international status, a global wave of scholars learning Chinese and understanding China is underway. Therefore, the research community for Chinese language and characters is gradually expanding, and there is an even greater need for in-depth and widespread studies in this field. The authors hope that this series of books can play a tiny role in China's journey towards the world and the world's understanding of China.
