The second part of the book provides an overview of SAPBW. Chapter 2 offers an implementation guide for a profitability analysis application in SAPBW, providing an overview of the architecture and functions of SAPBW. Chapter 3 examines all the steps required to build an application in SAPBW: extraction from SAPR/3, data retrieval from SAPR/3 and interface files, data modeling, and web reporting. Chapters 4 and 5 explore issues related to data modeling and data retrieval. Chapter 4 demonstrates the modeling and transformation from column-oriented information sources to account-oriented data cubes. Chapter 5 elaborates on the reasonable mapping of the SAP product hierarchy in data modeling, data retrieval, and reporting. Chapters 6 to 8 cover reporting tools. Chapter 6 explains the Business Explorer—Query Designer (particularly its operations, basic functions, and significant changes in SAPBW 3.X). Chapter 7 introduces the Business Explorer—Web Application Designer, which can be used to generate professional web applications directly in the SAPBW development environment. Chapter 8 provides examples of the Query Designer and Web Application Designer in SAPBW, drawn from a tutorial on implementing a web application (a scalable and adaptable management dashboard).
