How to treat a child with deafness?

Patient's question:

Hello, my child is deaf. I want to ask if my child is deaf, should I go to the hospital?

Doctor's answer:

Deafness refers to a sudden onset of unexplained sensorineural hearing loss. It is often accompanied by tinnitus, and in some cases, vertigo. It is typically unilateral. The condition is characterized by sudden deafness, usually accompanied by intense tinnitus. At times, patients may experience vertigo, nausea, and vomiting. The degree of deafness can vary from mild to severe, and audiograms may show four types: high-frequency hearing loss, low-frequency hearing loss, flat type, and complete deafness. A phenomenon known as recruitment is often present. Bekesy audiometry often yields Type II or Type III curves. Although some believe that a portion of patients with this condition can naturally recover fully or partially, it is still advisable to adopt an active approach to treatment.
