He began learning martial arts at the age of six and mastered various styles of kung fu. In terms of weapons, he was proficient in the broadsword, spear, sword, staff, as well as in grappling, striking, wrestling, soft skills, hard skills, and lightness techniques. He was hailed by the martial arts community as a versatile martial artist. At the same time, he was also a famous orthopedic expert. In medicine, he combined grappling techniques and bone-setting methods, forming a major northern martial arts orthopedic school known as the Wang Family Orthopedics.
Learning martial arts begins with mastering basic skills. The basic skills required by the elder master belong to a broad category, including basic kung fu techniques, strength training, and basic wrestling techniques. Then, one starts with "springing leg" techniques as an entry point. This book introduces ten sets of techniques, and on this foundation, one can also practice "linked springing leg" techniques to enhance interest. Next, one learns "Twenty Methods of Kung Fu." If practicing with a partner, after mastering individual techniques, one may progress to paired practice.
