Features: In August 2004, the Shanghai Municipal Vocational Training Guidance Center issued the "Shanghai Professional Standard for Psychological Counselors," formulated based on the "National Professional Standard for Psychological Counselors" by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. In the same October, it also issued the "Training Plan for Psychological Counselors (National Qualification Level 2)" and the "Training Plan for Assistant Psychological Counselors (National Qualification Level 3)" along with their corresponding training syllabi. In the practical teaching process, the experts involved in formulating and reviewing the training plans and syllabi deeply felt that without a unified training textbook to match, training institutions would find it difficult to strictly and effectively implement the training plans and syllabi, and the assessment and certification of professional qualifications would also lack standardization. Psychological counseling is still an emerging profession in China, and the training and certification of psychological counselors are even more in need of continuous exploration, summarization, standardization, and improvement. We hope that the publication of this textbook will help standardize the training content for psychological counselors and contribute to improving training quality. The training materials can also be used by training institutions for psychological counselors in other provinces and cities, as well as professional counselors engaged in psychological counseling or the general readers who wish to solve their own psychological problems through self-help.
