Features: This book has made four significant breakthroughs in its collection:
First, it includes substitute coins produced under special conditions in the "Chinese Copper Coins" series for classification and organization, such as Sichuan Malanqian, Shanxi Military Consumer Certificates, Jiangsu Substitute Coins, etc., allowing these scattered materials to be fully presented to collectors and scholars.
Second, to guide general enthusiasts and uphold the dignity of coin collecting, it features counterfeited copper coins that have emerged in the past decade, including special collector-grade counterfeits cast in the United States. The book identifies their characteristics and provides detailed data. Except for two Soviet Union one-cent and five-cent coins, all other counterfeits were personally purchased by the author from the market.
Third, it includes early foreign copper coins that circulated in China. Although foreign-made and of diverse origins—some smuggled in in organized batches, others carried in small quantities by merchants or travelers—these coins entered China's circulation market at certain exchange rates and influenced the design, patterns, and other aspects of Chinese copper coins. Studying early foreign copper coins helps deepen the understanding and appreciation of Chinese copper coins and promotes the exchange of Sino-foreign numismatic culture.
Fourth, it organizes and explains copper coins minted by ethnic separatist regimes and puppet governments supported by Japan that existed on Chinese soil since 1932. This helps readers better understand the socio-political, economic, and cultural dynamics of modern Chinese history, strengthens patriotic education, and highlights the complex historical context of copper coin minting and issuance.
All images in this book are primarily based on scans and photographs of the actual coins. A very small number had to use reference photographs due to well-known reasons.
