Features: The college-level textbook Newly Compiled Basic Japanese was developed to implement the Teaching Syllabus for the Basic Stage of Japanese Programs in Higher Education. It was jointly compiled by a group of teachers from Peking University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, and Liaoning Normal University, under the commission of the Japanese Group of the Second National College Foreign Language Textbook Compilation Committee. The entire series consists of four volumes (with 15 lessons per volume), designed for first and second-year Japanese major students (or those in the basic stage). This book is the third volume. It is intended for second-year students in the second semester and contains 15 lessons. Each lesson includes text, vocabulary, notes (functions and notions, grammar), and exercises (including conversation and reading). It also provides supplementary materials such as Japanese reading materials, Japanese songs, a function and notion index, a grammar index, and a master vocabulary list. This volume features 15 lessons, including texts, reading materials, and supplementary readings. With minor adjustments to certain words based on teaching needs, the original texts are fully retained. Language communication cannot exist without context in discourse. The compilation of this textbook has always emphasized discourse features. The notes consistently prioritize functions and notions while also considering the systematic nature of grammar, striving to integrate the two organically. When creating the texts, the focus is not only on grammatical correctness but also on discourse structure, aiming for coherent, natural, and vivid language. This book equally emphasizes the cultivation of language communication skills and the transmission of language knowledge, ensuring students build a solid foundation in language.
