"Jiangyun Tower Annotations -- A Series of Catalogs and Annotations of Chinese Dynasties"

Author: Qian Qianyi (compiled and edited by Pan Jingzheng)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: November 1, 2005
Features: The incense burner of the Jianshu Pavilion was reduced to ashes, and the annotations by the Past Master were scattered in the fire. The surviving annotations now transmitted are scattered fragments, retaining only a fraction of the original. At the age of twenty, I engaged in the search for lost texts and obtained the first edition of the Youxue Ji (Volume 50) and the second edition of the Jinhui Shanfang (Volumes 51), comparing their differences and discovering many discrepancies. I also obtained Huang Liyuan's annotated edition to correct errors and omissions. The first edition contains three additional poetic titles and seven additional prose pieces; the second edition adds twenty-one poetic titles and ninety additional prose pieces. The Hanfen Pavilion's facsimile was published as part of the Four Classics Collection, initially based on the Jinhui Shanfang edition. When the collection was reprinted, the first edition held by my family was obtained, and additional annotations from the Jinhui Shanfang edition were separately appended. In addition to the two collected works I acquired, there is a manuscript titled Supplementary Annotations to the Past Master's Youxue Ji, which further expands upon the Jinhui edition. I also possess a manuscript of the Past Master's Outer Collection, corrected by Ding Zuyin for errors, comprising twenty-five volumes, which adds yet another source beyond the three mentioned above. Through my research and by seeking out other lost texts, I compiled a total of 265 annotations, which I organized into a complete volume and stored in my collection. Over the past two decades, it has avoided the fate of being discarded. I have now thoroughly revised and corrected it, preparing it for publication in print. Preserving the remnants of the Jianshu Pavilion and supplementing the lost legacy of Dongjian, I hope that those who appreciate such works may find value in this compilation.
