What are the methods for treating intellectual disability?

Patient's question:

My child has always seemed a bit slow since they were young, but we didn't pay much attention. Later, we noticed that the child's intellectual development was particularly slow, so we took them to the hospital for a thorough examination. To our surprise, the child was diagnosed with intellectual disability. Could you please tell me what are the common symptoms of children with intellectual disability?

Doctor's answer:

Children with intellectual disabilities often show the earliest characteristics as difficulty feeding, sometimes refusing to suck, and being particularly prone to vomiting; they often have longer sleep times, are very quiet all day, and rarely cry. They take longer to master various movements (such as sitting, standing, walking, and responding) compared to typical children; they show little interest in their surroundings and do not look at things around them.
Children with intellectual disabilities often continue to put blocks or other objects in their mouths until they are 2-3 years old. After 2-3 years, they often drool excessively. The cries of children with intellectual disabilities are either sharp or weak, with little variation in tone. They show no interest in toys and will not play with them even if they hold them. They shift from being inactive and sleepy as infants to being restless and constantly moving as they grow older, with their movements lacking purpose.
