Green Mountains Echoing the Final Sound -- An Interview with a Writer

Author: Guo Zaijing (Compiler)
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-05-01
Features: Regarding the book title, the author used a line from a poem written to Teacher Pan Xulan: "Green Mountains Echoing the Unheard." Green mountains are always filled with "unheard echoes," always embracing them. Why did I choose "Green Mountains Echoing the Unheard" as the title? First, I interviewed these writers, and their wise conversations, filled with life experiences and social philosophy, were all recorded during dialogues. From the perspective of the philosopher who said one cannot step into the same river twice, these interviews are "unheard echoes" that pass and never return. For the departed elders, they are truly the most genuine echoes. Second, this title can be seen as complementary to the book "Autumn Water and Flames—Interviews with Writers," forming a complete set of interviews with Shanghai writers, with a sense of conclusion. Third, my literary special program on the radio has come to an end, and from this point of view, it can also be considered an "unheard echo." The photographs quoted in the book, except for a few by Du Xuan, Han Zi, Lu Bing, Xiao Guanhong, and Hu Shengliang, were taken during my interviews—this is a precious visual record. This book was greatly supported by the leadership of Shanghai Far East Publishing House and the editor-in-chief Huang Zhengyi. They had previously collaborated with the author on the book "Autumn Water and Flames—Interviews with Writers," demonstrating their editorial vision and high sense of publishing responsibility, which I deeply appreciate. I hope readers will enjoy this book, "Green Mountains Echoing the Unheard—Interviews with Writers."
