Features: With the continuous deepening of the study of the history of machinery, especially the scientific achievements obtained from the philosophical and historical analysis and research of ancient machinery, have become an important aspect of the history of science and technology. Therefore, studying the design ideas and methods of ancient Chinese machinery is a major topic facing the study of the history of ancient Chinese machinery. In recent years, under the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the author has applied historical research methods to study the design ideas and methods of ancient Chinese machinery. The book mainly discusses the characteristics of ancient Chinese mechanical design in Chapter 1; Chapter 2 discusses the basic concepts and characteristics of ancient Chinese mechanical design; Chapters 3 and 4 discuss the records of machinery in the Book of Changes and the Rites of Zhou, as well as the design ideas of machinery in the Master of the Craft. Chapters 5 to 7 discuss the content related to machinery in the Tao Te Ching, the Zhuangzi, and the Mozi, as well as their technical and design ideas. The content of ancient Chinese mechanical design methods is discussed from Chapter 8 to 13, mainly studying the standardized thinking methods and management ideas in ancient Chinese mechanical design, the mathematical and physical design methods, the automation thinking and design methods, the thinking method of "reaching harmony," the wear-resistant design methods, and the design method of "making vessels according to the model." The last chapter is a summary and outlook of the entire book.
