Features: The "Selected Micro-fiction of World Chinese Women Writers," edited by Mr. Qin Hong, may be classified as "micro-fiction," but the effort behind it is "significant." From the works of 96 Chinese women writers from different countries, over 200 stories have been selected and compiled into one volume, serving as a generous gift to both readers and authors. As Chinese people have spread across the world, "Chinese-language literature" is no longer synonymous with "Chinese literature," akin to "English literature" or "Spanish literature," having transcended national borders to become a branch of global major literary traditions. Its root lies in China, and Chinese scholars play an irreplaceable role in researching and introducing world Chinese-language literature. Mr. Qin Hong's achievements serve as proof. In recent years, the Chinese literary scene has seen a surge of talented female writers, shining brightly. Some have called it the "rise of women and decline of men." In this regard, world Chinese-language literature has kept pace with its mother culture. Taking Southeast Asia as an example: when discussing Malaysian Chinese literature, who does not know Dai Xiaohua or Li Yujun? There are countless other names like Bo Yi, Cui Yuan, Yong Le Duo Si, and Zeng Pei. Singapore, though small in land area, boasts a significant number of Chinese-language female writers. Who among readers of Chinese literature does not know the talented You Jin? Names like Rong Zi, Bai He, Lan Yu, Jun Ying Lü, and Xue Mei have collectively formed a "literary garden!" In the book edited by Mr. Qin Hong, there are over 30 works selected from female writers in these two countries alone! Adding to them the major hubs of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, as well as Chinese-language female writers from around the world, forms a formidable force. Some of these writers are my close friends, and I have been kindly "corrected" by them, so I dare not make arbitrary judgments. However, I deeply admire their talent and ability. As a veteran of the Chinese-language literary family, I take pride in the achievements of these "ladies of letters."
