Author: Compiled by Xinhua Monthly Press
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-09-01
Features: This book is based on the additions and deletions of A Chronicle of the Major Events in the First Half-Century of the New China. The entire book adheres to the guidelines of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the Important Thought of "Three Represents," and is based on the historical materialist viewpoint. It faithfully and objectively records the progress of our Party, country, and people. The main source of this book is the Xinhua Monthly magazine, and it also references other published or released books, periodicals, and literature. It documents events, conferences, documents, speeches, policies, laws and regulations, and obituaries of prominent figures (limited to leaders of the Party and state, military generals and above, leaders of democratic parties and people's organizations, and some well-known figures from various sectors) from the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949, to August 2004, which had a nationwide and international impact. The entries are arranged in chronological order by year, month, and day. For entries without a specific time, the reporting time of Xinhua News Agency or newspapers is used. Entries with only a month but no specific date are generally placed at the end of the month. If multiple entries occur at the same time, only the time is written at the beginning of the entry, and the rest are marked with " same as " to indicate the same time. Most laws and regulations are annotated with their date of promulgation and implementation for easy reference.
