This volume includes the original from the primitive commune to the establishment of the centralized feudal state, the unification of the Qin Dynasty. It consists of five chapters, respectively narrating the political history, economic development, institutional evolution, and cultural and intellectual conditions of the primitive commune era, the Xia and Shang periods, the Western Zhou period, the Eastern Zhou period, and the Warring States period. The second volume includes the period from the Qin and Han dynasties to the unification of the Sui Dynasty. The second chapter narrates the development of the commodity economy and the decline of the Ming Dynasty, covering the political and economic of the Ming Dynasty from the reign of the Ming Shizong to the reign of the Ming Shenzong.
