Features: This book introduces both traditional logic and modern logic. Thus, its structure is divided into three parts: Part One – Traditional Logic; Part Two – Modern Logic; Part Three – Logical Methods. In this book, we separate induction from the deductive logic system, making it a comprehensive logical method alongside the definition, division, restriction, and generalization of concepts. In Part One (Traditional Logic), we adopt some beneficial achievements of mathematical logic, such as truth tables for judgments, to bridge it with modern logic. In Part Two (Modern Logic), we omit knowledge like truth tables and directly present propositional calculus and predicate calculus. Based on years of teaching experience, we believe that the natural deduction system is more concise than the axiomatic system, as it can omit lengthy formal derivations, making it easier for students to grasp. Therefore, this book focuses solely on the natural deduction system. To ensure this book truly serves as a practical tool for learners, we adhere to the principle of scientific rigor, striving to present logical and methodological content accurately. Additionally, we carefully select exercises and thought questions to help learners master the corresponding logic and methods through practice and reflection.
