Features: "Blood Road — Personal Accounts of the Great Escape from Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Guizhou" tells a historical story that occurred in southern China during the late stages of the War of Resistance against Japan. Through numerous real-life stories, the author reflects on the atrocities of the Japanese invaders, the flight and suffering of refugees, the combat and retreat of the Kuomintang army, the resistance of the Communist armed forces and the rise of the people, the decline of traitors and their self-reflection, thereby weaving a great tragedy of human history. The author was one of the millions of refugees during that time. At the age of nine, he experienced war and escape, hunger and terror, and, as a young individual, endured the trials of blood and fire, life and death. Author Zou Dai Nian, originally the chairman of the Literature and Art Federation of Qiannan Prefecture, spent twenty years conducting multiple field interviews, recording the narratives of over four hundred witnesses, and completed more than two million words of interview notes. After retiring, he spent four years selecting one-fifth of the text for the book.
