Features: This book is a selected anthology of Chinese literature from ancient times to the modern era. It was first published in 1943 by Fuxing Bookstore in Chengdu, Sichuan. The selection, punctuation, and annotations were done by Professor Gao Shizhi of Sichuan at that time. Gao Shizhi, whose name is Gao Lingxiao and courtesy name is Shizhi, was born in Batang Township, Bishan County, Sichuan Province. He was born in the 11th year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1872 in the Gregorian calendar). In 1897, he passed the provincial examination in Sichuan and was named a zhuangyuan. The following year, he went to the capital for the imperial examination and participated in the "carriage memorial" and the "1898 reforms." In 1908, he was again summoned to the capital and appointed as a Zhongshu in the Grand Secretariat. Later, an edict was issued to establish a constitutional monarchy, and a Consultative Yuan was set up, with Gao appointed as a member of the Consultative Yuan as a representative from Sichuan. In 1911, the Xinhai Revolution broke out, the Qing Dynasty collapsed, and he returned to his hometown for the second time, serving as the secretary general of the Sichuan Provincial Assembly. He later held the position of county magistrate multiple times. After the liberation, he was appointed as a researcher at the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Arts and Sciences and concurrently served as a member of the Chengdu Municipal Committee. He passed away in 1956.
