"Unfortunately, the printed editions were hastily produced, with numerous errors and omissions, and the appended content overshadowed the main text, resulting in diverse versions." Guo Futing of Chaoyang, moved by this situation, took his previously revised "Geyan," sought feedback from knowledgeable individuals, and further proofread and meticulously wrote it out before re-publishing it. The "Geyan" published by Yuelu Book Society is based on Guo's edition, adding modern annotations and translations to the original text to facilitate understanding for general readers. The entire "Geyan" is categorized, with ten sections: "Learning," "Self-Cultivation," "Personal Conduct" (including "Health Preservation"), "Virtue," "Dealing with Affairs," "Interacting with Others," "Family Management," "Public Administration," "Blessings," and "Misfortunes." The categories are not strictly separated but rather interwoven, all ultimately aiming to "cultivate oneself, practice benevolence, reflect on one's actions, and observe the world."
