Publish Date: July 1, 2003
Features: This book is divided into four parts:
1. Humorous Poetic Discourses;
2. Humorous Lexical Discourses;
3. Humorous Melodic Discourses;
4. Humorous Couplet Discourses.
All the material in this book, except for the humorous texts directly extracted from various poetic, lexical, melodic, and couplet discourses, also includes notes from ancient and modern records, selecting those with similar characteristics.
The selection criteria for the material are as follows:
(1) The content should be humorous yet rich in enduring charm, capable of evoking aesthetic appreciation. Works such as doggerel poems and vulgar verses found in contemporary joke books are excluded.
(2) Each piece must contain substantial content; standalone humorous poems, lyrics, or couplets are not included.
(3) Works that are not originally poetic, lexical, melodic, couplet discourses, or notes are excluded.
The selected pieces, which vary in origin and detail, are listed together for reference.
At the end of the book, an index of the sources used is provided for consultation.
This book is a companion piece to Humorous Notes, sharing the same essence but differing in material. Reading them together will undoubtedly enhance mutual understanding.
