Plain Wisdom

Author: Wen Zhao

Publishing Date: 1997-03-01
Features: The "Zhinan" was compiled in the sixth year of the Ming Tianqi reign (1626), and the entire book is divided into ten parts, totaling twenty-eight volumes. In the seventh year of the Chongzhen reign (1634), to "complement what was lacking in the previous compilation" (from the preface of "Zhinan Bu"), the author made several additions, adjustments, and revisions, recompiling it as "Zhinan Bu," with the same number of parts and volumes. This collection includes a preface, followed by the main text. Each part has a general preface, and the beginning of each volume has an introductory note. Annotations are occasionally appended to the text. The entire book extensively gathers nearly 2,000 historical records from the pre-Qin period to the end of the Ming dynasty, making it a comprehensive record of the use of wisdom throughout the ages.
