The History of China's Population, edited by the renowned historical geography expert Professor Ge Jianxiong, has recently been published by Fudan University Press. This book aims to provide professional researchers and readers interested in delving deep into the history of China's population with a detailed, comprehensive, and systematic monograph. The entire book spans over 3 million words, divided into six volumes: Introduction, Pre-Qin to the Northern and Southern Dynasties Period (authored by Ge Jianxiong), Sui and Five Dynasties Period (authored by Dong Guodong), Liao, Song, Jin, and Yuan Periods (authored by Wu Songdi), Ming Period (authored by Cao Shuji), Qing Period (authored by Cao Shuji), and 1910-1953 (authored by Hou Yangfang). Each volume is a standalone book, with a largely unified format throughout the series, striving for thorough content. Population survey systems, quantitative changes in population, population distribution, and the relationship between population, society, and history are the key focuses of this book. Under possible conditions, it also covers population structure, marriage, family, fertility, population quality, and various social and natural factors affecting population changes, distribution, and migration. The modern period also employs demographic statistical methods for micro-level research. The conclusions of each volume reflect the authors' theoretical reflections. Fully absorbing previous research achievements, combined with the accumulated efforts of most authors over ten to twenty years of research and several years of diligent writing, it is hoped that this book will become the best work in its respective fields.
