Features: Strange Heroes of Kangxi is a combination of The Prequel to Everlasting Peace and The Sequel to Everlasting Peace, two books published during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The first part is The Prequel, and the second part is The Sequel. Everlasting Peace was originally a storytelling performance by Jiang Zhenming during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, which spread in the capital. In the Guangxu period, Guo Guangrui, based on the storytelling of Ha Hu, "memorized it thoroughly" and "recorded it into four volumes." The Qing Dynasty was the peak period of storytelling art, and this book was one of the most popular. Its story was even adapted into Peking Opera and performed continuously. In the Qing Dynasty, storytelling about public cases narrowly defined often took the upright officials, heroes, and good citizens as the protagonists, while the antagonists were corrupt officials, tyrannical judges, and thieves. Many of these thieves were actually rebel peasants driven to desperation. Everlasting Peace, which claimed to be based on the history of the current dynasty, could not escape this stereotype. Therefore, modern readers should pay attention to this issue when reading.
