The Story of Ah Q

Author: Lu Xun (Written by); Feng Zikai (Illustrated)
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2000-01-01
Features: At the turn of the century, we sincerely hope that the characters discussed here will fade away in the real life of China in the next century; of course, as shining typical figures, they will remain immortal like Hamlet, Don Quixote, and other timeless names. Ah Q is a humble and insignificant character, but a name of immense significance. I do not say "great" but "immense," because this little character is truly not great, but the historical and aesthetic capacity of this name is incredibly vast. I cannot think of any literary character in the world that has the same level of comprehensiveness as Ah Q, encompassing hundreds of millions of people. Almost every Chinese person, you, me, and him, carries within them the essence of Ah Q's soul.
