Features: The first volume contains twelve prose works, including narrative, descriptive, expository, and argumentative types. Most of the articles were written in the 1940s of this century, which is after World War II, with a few dating back to the 1930s. Among the twelve authors, nine are from the UK and Ireland, and three are from the USA. The length of each article is approximately 1,000 to 3,000 words. To suit teaching needs, we have made some to certain original texts. The content of the articles is generally healthy, but not without issues. We generally clarify our perspectives through author introductions, questions, and sentence explanations. At the end of each article, there are author biographies, notes, and exercises. The exercises are divided into three categories: questions, sentence explanations, and writing prompts. The questions are divided into two groups: Group A for analytical questions, and Group B for discussion questions. Writing prompts can be selected based on the students' specific situations. Our idea is to focus on the content and language style of the articles during class, and to do more written exercises after class.
