Taoism Outline--Qian Mu Works Series

Features: This book is well-organized and easy to understand, making it an excellent introduction to the study and reading of Zhu Xi's philosophy. I first conceived the idea of writing A New Casebook on Zhu Xi's Thought in the summer of 1964. By November 1969, the full manuscript was completed. Considering its vast scope and substantial length, I wrote an Outline in the early summer of 1970, summarizing the key points of the book and extending it to the entire history of Chinese scholarship. From Confucius to the late Qing Dynasty, spanning two and a half millennia, the evolution of Confucianism and the various schools of thought are discussed, highlighting the significance and value of Zhu Xi's scholarship in inheriting and advancing knowledge. If one cannot read the full New Casebook, reading this outline will still give a general idea of its essence. And if one wishes to delve deeper into the full work, this outline must serve as the starting point. In 1971, the full New Casebook was published, and the outline was subsequently published separately for the convenience of readers.
