Features: Marxist aesthetics is both related to Marxist philosophical thought and to the discipline of aesthetics itself. The former indicates that the philosophical starting point and theoretical basis of Marxist aesthetics should be dialectical materialism and historical materialism, which provides a solid foundation for scientifically and objectively exploring and understanding the nature of beauty, aesthetic issues, and applying the laws of beauty for artistic creation. The latter signifies that the birth of Marxist aesthetics first broadened the scope of aesthetic research, followed by expanding, enriching, and fulfilling the fields, knowledge, and content of aesthetic research. The emergence of Marxism marked a true revolution in the history of human thought and philosophy. It is a scientific philosophical worldview that provides a unified scientific explanation of the complex natural world, human society, and mental phenomena. Marxist philosophy has summarized and generalized the general method of cognition—dialectical materialism. The objective basis of the dialectical method is the general law of the development of the material world. Although this method cannot replace the research methods of other specific sciences, it serves as the general philosophical foundation for all sciences and becomes a tool for cognition in all fields.
