Features: This dictionary is based on the Modern Chinese Dictionary and references other relevant lexicographical works. It collects disyllabic and polysyllabic words in modern Chinese, providing pronunciation, form, meaning, analysis, and error correction for each group of disyllabic words. The focus is on usage, emphasizing the differences and similarities in usage from a pragmatic perspective, with examples provided for comparison and distinction. Additionally, it analyzes disyllabic words from angles such as word formation, part of speech, meaning, etymology, connotation, grammatical function, frequency of use, phonetic and morphological evolution, logical features, and rhetorical usage. The aim is to explore the reasons behind disyllabic words, reveal their current state, seek patterns for memorization, and clear obstacles in language communication, as well as in the learning, teaching, and research of Chinese. Most of the disyllabic words included in this dictionary are homographs with different meanings, and it also includes over 300 groups of homographs with identical meanings. The latter have identical definitions and usage, with variable pronunciation (either stressed or unstressed), exhibiting great flexibility in pronunciation. This dictionary includes them not only to serve the learning and teaching of Chinese but also to provide systematic material for the future standardization and organization of disyllabic words.
