About the Author: Chu Anping was another prominent representative of liberal intellectuals in China after Hu Shi. He founded the political commentary weekly Guancha after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, which gained widespread fame at the time. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as the editor-in-chief of Guangming Daily. He was branded a rightist for proposing the concept of "the party owns everything" and was persecuted again during the Cultural Revolution. Eventually, he left under a cloud of injustice and has been missing ever since. This book provides a detailed introduction and commentary on the turbulent life of Chu Anping, while also including his essays, political commentaries, prefaces, and letters from different historical periods, truly reflecting the evolution of his thoughts.
