Features: Independent spirit, free thought. The Collected Works of Chen Yinque, comprising thirteen volumes and fourteen books, include all of the author's writings that can currently be found. Among them, the poetry, book notes (including the Records of the Grand Historian, the Han Shu, the Tang Legal Explanations, Tang Dynasty novels, Dunhuang fragments, and the section on eminent monks), correspondence collection, lectures, and new manuscripts are newly compiled and published. In the spring of 1942, I hastily had this collection reviewed once again, completing it in just two months. At the time, I was suffering from summer illnesses, diseases, and poverty, and it was not difficult to imagine that I had nothing of significance to contribute. However, I was fortunate enough to still be able to let it pass.
