Features: This dictionary includes over 4,100 common characters in ancient Chinese (excluding variant characters). Characters with the same meanings in both ancient and modern Chinese that are also frequently used in modern Chinese, rare and obscure characters and meanings rarely appearing in ancient texts, characters and meanings that emerged only in ancient colloquial language and modern Chinese, as well as meanings unique to poetry, songs, and quatrains are generally not included. A small number of disyllabic words are also included, totaling about 2,500. The dictionary appendix contains two supplements: "Table of Difficult Characters" and "Chronological Table of Dynasties in Chinese History." The "Table of Difficult Characters" includes over 2,500 characters, providing only phonetic annotations and definitions without examples, serving as a supplement to the main text of the dictionary. The characters in the Table of Difficult Characters are listed in the same index table as the main text characters.
