Features: Pramana, in terms of its entire developmental process, can be broadly divided into four periods: First, from the early centuries CE with the Nyaya school's Vasubandhu, through Buddhist Madhyamaka and Yoga to the period before Dignaga, this represents the ancient Indian stage of Pramana, also known as the ancient master stage. Second, from Dignaga, through Dharmakirti, Vasubandhu, and the successors of Vasubandhu until its decline in its Indian homeland, this constitutes the new stage of Pramana. Third, from the 7th century CE onward, Pramana spread to China, dividing into the Han and Tibetan branches. The Han transmission of Pramana further spread eastward to Korea and Japan, while the Tibetan transmission reached Mongolia, enduring for millennia without interruption. Fourth, from the late 20th century to the early 21st century, the study of Pramana evolved into an international academic discipline, marked by fluctuations. This book is divided into four parts, each corresponding to one of these four periods, and introduces them separately.
