Features: In the late 1970s, Mr. Yao Dehuai, then chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Language Society and a professor at the University of Hong Kong, often corresponded with me and lectured on Chinese language issues. He extracted and refined the scattered remarks in my letters, turning them into short essays for publication in the journal Doushou of Hong Kong's cultural and academic circles. Later, they were also published in other publications of the Hong Kong Chinese Language Society, such as the Chinese Language Journal, under columns like "Overseas Literary Talks" and "Random Notes on Language." From 1967 to 1982, this series ran continuously for seven years without interruption.
