In the post-Cold War world, it is a world where various ideologies clash. The Western academic circles have also shown some new trends. Under this background, contemporary China is in the process of transitioning to a socialist market economy and is inevitably influenced by these trends. However, the concepts proposed by Western scholars out of their "preoccupation with novelty" may not align well with the meaning of the current Chinese linguistic context. Therefore, the primary issue is to clarify the semantics, analyze the presuppositions, and seek genuine dialogue. To this end, the editorial board of "Public Forum" and the Beijing Tianze Economic Research Institute jointly held an academic symposium on "Economic Democracy and Economic Freedom." Here, some of the presentations from the conference are selected for publication, serving as a reference for readers concerned with this issue.
