Features: Since ancient times, China has valued books and illustrations equally, recognizing the significant role of images. During the Qin conquest, Xiao He entered Xianyang and did not take gold, jade, or treasures first, but rather the Qin imperial archives, which allowed him to understand the key points of the realm. The great scholar Zheng Xuan of the Han Dynasty, while interpreting the Book of Songs, also created illustrations for the poems. Guo Pu, a renowned scholar of the Jin Dynasty, included illustrations of plants, insects, fish, and birds in his annotations for the earliest Chinese dictionary, the Erya. Unfortunately, these works have not survived to this day. However, we can still see many books on astronomy, geography, rituals, music, chess, and artifacts, all of which include numerous illustrations to aid readers' understanding and enhance their interest in reading.
