Features: Chinese living color painting has a long history. The term "heavy color" first appeared in the Tang Dynasty in Zhang Xianyuan's "Record of Famous Paintings of Past Generations." The modern "brush painting with heavy colors" is the development of ancient living color painting. In recent decades, although brush painting with heavy colors has made many innovations in themes, forms, and techniques, the use of raw materials has been completely replaced by low-end tin-tube chemical pigments. Many painters are no longer familiar with or able to use traditional heavy color pigments such as stone colors and metallic colors. Now, restoring the name "heavy color" is to restore the true color and techniques of traditional heavy color painting, allowing China's long-standing heavy color painting to develop more distinctive national characteristics under the trend of global cultural localization. Only in this way can Chinese painting stand independently in the world of art. The rise of modern heavy color painting not only brings new vitality to China's traditional heavy color painting but also presents a vibrant scene in the field we call "Chinese painting." The traditional Chinese painting tradition is vast and diverse, with literati ink painting being one important but not the only branch. The concept and practice of exclusive emphasis on ink painting are clearly worth reviewing and reflection. Exploring, innovating, and developing in the field of heavy color will undoubtedly make the creation of "Chinese painting" even more rich and varied.
