Features: The "Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy Creation and Cultural Construction" symposium was held concurrently with the "Invitation Exhibition of Contemporary Masters of Calligraphy at the National Art Museum of China" and the "First Nomination Exhibition of Contemporary Calligraphy Masters at the National Art Museum of China." We invited over forty influential art theorists from various fields, including calligraphy, fine arts, and literature and arts. They explored the theme from different perspectives, making this anthology not confined to calligraphy but possessing a broader cultural vision and academic insight. The academic theme of this symposium is "Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy Creation and Cultural Construction," aiming to address the current state of contemporary Chinese calligraphy creation, explore the relationship between contemporary calligraphy and culture, such as the connection between traditional culture and contemporary Chinese calligraphy creation, contemporary higher calligraphy education and calligraphy creation, the contemporary cultural system and contemporary calligraphy creation, as well as contemporary culture. The successful publication of the "Proceedings of the 'Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy Creation and Cultural Construction' Symposium" is a summary of the achievements of this exhibition and academic research activity. It can also be seen as a phased review of contemporary calligraphy creation and theoretical development in recent years. We hope that these papers can provide theoretical references for the collection and research of calligraphy at the National Art Museum of China, and assist in the in-depth development of related work such as calligraphy exhibitions, collection, aesthetic popular education, and international exchanges at the museum, as well as the healthy development of the contemporary calligraphy cause in China.
