Features: Continuously updating and improving knowledge levels is the source of competitive advantage. The current active period of residential design is characterized by innovation. The emergence of new design theories and concepts, the appearance of new types of housing, and the promotion of new technologies all demonstrate the vitality of innovation and its contributions to residential construction. Our urban life has been constantly changing. How many people still live in the houses they occupied a decade ago? But how to innovate in a beneficial way is a relatively meaningful question. Are the residential designs of today part of the correct trajectory of development, creating good works? Will these homes become incompatible with life 3 to 5 years from now, falling behind in terms of cultural expression and the future-oriented representation of lifestyles? Our society is continuously progressing, but the act of living is tied to a fixed building. Therefore, as good residential architecture, it must have foresight in future lifestyles and consider the changes in future living patterns.
Although Chinese culture is profound and extensive, it faces the impact of strong global cultures. We yearn for more national cultural spirit and a rational perspective on foreign development experiences. We cannot blindly copy them; instead, we must study them in depth in light of China's actual conditions and selectively absorb design concepts suitable for China's national context:
1. Cultivating neighborhood relationships. Residents not only desire a good house alone but also neighbors, creating a sense of community.
2. Making outdoor spaces an integral part of the entire residence. Both exterior and interior design should emphasize continuity.
3. Emphasizing the coordination between the exterior of the residence and the surrounding natural environment.
As Mr. Wu Liangyong said, "Housing environment engineering is also a very complex systematic project." Housing environment construction must meet five basic conditions:
- Ensuring residents have adequate housing;
- Providing guarantees for health and safety;
- Promoting harmonious development between people and urban residential environments;
- Developing ecological environments;
- Sustainable development and utilization of residential resources.
Meeting these five conditions is not something that can be achieved overnight. It is heartening to see that many works in this collection attempt new concepts in residential architectural design, demonstrating the designers' profound expertise and vibrant innovative spirit. We hope this book can provide designers with practical theoretical insights and practical tools, offering valuable spiritual nourishment to advance China's residential architectural design cause.
