Features: This textbook is composed of the following main parts, their arrangement, and characteristics:
1. The selected texts first ensure the typicality of the written content. Typical articles can only reflect the common characteristics of such articles. Mastering such articles can help students better independently interpret similar articles and achieve the effect of generalization.
2. The annotations provide sufficient explanations of economic and trade terms, background information, and introductions to relevant international organizations and large enterprises, which not only help students understand the texts but also enrich and expand their economic and trade knowledge. The annotations also offer necessary explanations for the linguistically challenging parts of the texts.
3. The questions after the texts generally involve content and language points beyond the annotations, as well as key and difficult points. These should be the focus of study and teaching. Most of these questions require students to apply existing knowledge, linking theory with practice and using theoretical explanations to interpret reality, through serious independent thinking, with appropriate guidance from teachers when necessary.
4. The after-text exercises include articles for reading practice, various test questions, and answers. The purpose of the exercises is to train and test students' analytical and comprehension skills while broadening their horizons and expanding their knowledge.
5. The supplementary reading materials for each text provide "Reading Supplements" for most texts, encouraging students to learn or browse more, newer, and richer materials to further improve their reading skills. The requirements for reading should not be uniform; they should allow for more or less, deeper or shallower, and students should do what they can to achieve their own gains. For convenience, this set is divided into two volumes; the first volume is the textbook, including all texts, glossaries, annotations, text questions, and an index of professional terms used in this book; the second volume is the exercise book, providing exercises for each text, series of supplementary reading materials, and answers to text questions and exercises. The types of selected texts in this book include: news commentaries, reviews, reports, features, teletype drafts, as well as annual economic and trade situation reports compiled by international organizations and market research reports by government departments.
