Features: This book largely overcomes the shortcomings of similar books, and its scientific writing principles make it a truly IELTS-aligned IELTS vocabulary book. These principles include:
1. Practical entries. The selection of entries in this book is based on the IELTS vocabulary from the new edition of the Longman Contemporary Advanced English Dictionary (English-English/English-Chinese bilingual), the College English Test Band 4 and 6 syllabi, and an IELTS corpus composed of authoritative IELTS publications.
2. Bilingual definitions (Chinese and English). Definitions are referenced from the new edition of the Longman Contemporary Advanced English Dictionary and the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary (6th Edition) to ensure authority and timeliness. English explanations are more beneficial for students to grasp the precise meanings of words.
3. Emphasis on vocabulary usage. Most of the example sentences in the book are extracted from authoritative IELTS publications and accompanied by Chinese translations. The purpose is to help readers memorize the key words while familiarizing them with how these words are used in the IELTS exam.
4. Accompanied by audio cassettes. Mastering a word naturally includes mastering its correct pronunciation. This book uses the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to mark British English pronunciation, aligning with the phonetic characteristics of the IELTS exam, and is supplemented with 3 audio cassettes.
