Features: The book's features are as follows:
1. Concise Content. The book only includes 3,212 key words from the "Exam Syllabus" and the "English Curriculum Standards," with each entry limited to four items: reader, part of speech, meaning, and example sentences. Less is more—only then can you digest it thoroughly.
2. Carefully Selected Example Sentences. Each word in the book is typically paired with one or two example sentences, all of which are meticulously chosen to address key points, difficulties, common confusions, common mistakes, and frequent exam topics. The book strives to convey as much semantic, grammatical, and pragmatic information as possible with as few sentences as possible. For example, the word "ability" has two example sentences, which at least reflect the following "exam points": "ability" can mean "ability" or "talent." When meaning "ability," it is used as an uncountable noun, without a plural form, and cannot be preceded by an indefinite article; when meaning "talent," it is used as a countable noun and is often used in plural form. Adjectives, prepositional phrases, or infinitive verbs can be used as modifiers to indicate "what kind of ability/talent" or "in what aspect." Wouldn't it be easier and more practical to memorize these two sentences than to memorize word meanings and usage dryly?
3. Interweaving "Vertical" and "Horizontal" Structures to Enhance Efficiency. The book's unique feature is its interweaving of "vertical" and "horizontal" structures. In terms of content, the entries are arranged alphabetically ("vertical" arrangement); in terms of structure, example sentences are cleverly combined with grammatical rules, i.e., typical example sentences for each grammatical rule are separately assigned to the corresponding words to achieve multi-use of examples, with "vertical" as the starting point and "horizontal" integrated within it.
4. Fresh Layout, Convenient to Use. The book features appropriately sized fonts, well-balanced line spacing, and color-printed headwords, all of which make it not only pleasing to the eye but also enjoyable to read. Additionally, the marginal index blocks help you quickly locate the words you need.
